Beijing, September 14, 2022-The International Hydropower Association (IHA) convened its Board Meeting through video conferencing, chaired by President Roger Gill. Noteworthy attendees included CEO Eddie Rich, Vice Presidents, and esteemed board members. In a session themed ''Regional updates on Biden, Beijing, and Brussels'', industry representatives from China, the United States, and the European Union joined as guests for informative discussions.
Wu Wenhao, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of IF-CSHE, delivered a compelling speech, accentuating China's strides in the hydropower sector and its pivotal role in attaining carbon neutrality. He underscored China's commitment to renewable energy outlined in the ''14thFive-Year Plan'', particularly emphasizing the role of hydropower in reducing carbon emissions. Wu elaborated on China's ambitious pumped storage projects aligned with the Medium and Long Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035), illustrating the nation's dedication to constructing a modern power system.
Additionally, Wu shed light on China's investments in renewable energy within the Belt and Road Initiative, highlighting Chinese enterprises' contributions to global hydropower development through international collaborations. He emphasized a shared vision of implementing the Paris Agreement and achieving carbon neutrality, advocating for green development along the Belt and Road. Wu graciously addressed inquiries from attendees regarding environmental concerns, climate change, and pumped storage technology.
