Brasilia,March 18th,2024 - Mr.Wu Wenhao, Executive ViceChairmanand Secretary General ofIF-CSHE, visited Eduardo Nery, DirectorGeneralof the BrazilianNationalWaterwayTransportationAgency(ANTAQ, Agência Nacional de Transportes Aquaviários).

During the meeting, Wu Wenhao introduced key members of the Chinese hydropower and navigation community and delivered a presentation titled"Hydropower Development & Inland Water Navigation Development in China". He provided detailed insights into China's hydropower and pumped storage power station development, its water transport framework, major projects in both hydropower and river navigation, as well as the organizational structure and activities of the China Society for Hydropower Engineering and the International Hydropower Development Conference. Additionally, Wu Wenhao discussed efforts to promote the integration of complementary water, wind, and solar energy to advance renewable energy utilization, aligning with China's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

Eduardo Nery warmly welcomed Wu Wenhao's delegation and underscored the importance of mutual exchanges between China and Brazil. He briefed the delegation on the functions of the Brazilian Waterways Agency and the country's water transport development. Both parties emphasized the significance of cooperation between China and Brazil, as fellow BRICS nations, particularly in the areas of hydropower, navigation, and renewable energy development to combat climate change.

ANTAQ, operating as an autonomous entity under the Brazilian Ministry of Infrastructure, holds responsibility for the regulation, supervision, and oversight of water transport services, ports, and waterway infrastructure within Brazil.

The meeting was attended by Eduardo Queiroz, Manager of Licensing and Authorization at ANTAQ, Alexandre Figueiredo, Director of International Relations, and other relevant staff members.
